Nanny Screening Procedures
At Westside Nanny, your family's safety and your satisfaction are my top priority.
I only recommend candidates who I would want to hire myself to care for my own children!
Phase I: Application
I recruit professional applicants who meet or exceed the following minimum qualifications:
- 2+ years of childcare experience
- Ablility to provide 3 sparkling references
- Proof of US Work Eligibility
- 18 Years or older (most WSN candidates are 21+)
- Thorough and thoughtful completion of our nanny questionnaire
- Ability to pass a comprehensive Background Check with flying colors
- Responsible driving history (for any positions requiring on-the-job driving)
- CPR Certified (or willing to become certified prior to beginning employment)
Phase II: Phone Screen
If an applicant meets our criteria, she will be contacted to schedule an initial phone interview. During this call we discuss her experience, education and interests, and what she is looking for in her next nanny position. Based on this conversation, I decide whether to invite her for an in-person interview.
Phase III: Interview & Reference Checks
An interview is my greatest opportunity to really get to know a candidate! I sit down with her one-on-one to discuss her expectations and what she can offer your family. I also use this opportunity to assess her personality, and to ask questions to help us really get to know more about her as a professional nanny and as a person. After an interview, I will follow up with an applicant's references to verify her work history and discuss her strengths, work ethic and style, and any opportunities for improvement. I also run a preliminary background check to verify identity, criminal history, and sex offender registry status. Once an applicant's interview, reference checks, and background check are successful, she will be eligible for recommendation to families.
Phase IV: Recommendation & Family Interview
When I meet a candidate who we determine to be an appropriate match, you'll receive a formal recommendation from us that includes her profile information and our assessment of why she is a great potential fit for your needs. You'll have an opportunity to review this information at your convenience and let decide if she is someone you'd like to get to know better in an interview. Should you decide to interview her, I'll connect you with her directly and facilitate the coordination of a meeting between you and your candidate of choice. If your meeting goes well, I'll walk you through the process of extending an offer, negotiating terms and putting together a written work agreement!
